A message from the chairman…
This time last year Leek Arts Festival was facing a crisis of major proportions following the sudden closure of our main venue, Leek’s historic Swan pub.
Happily, the Foxlowe Arts Centre came to our rescue, allowing the Festival to go ahead in style and with great success.
Both organisations learnt a lot about each other in those hectic few weeks during May last year, not least that Leek Arts Festival and the Foxlowe are natural partners, with each gaining from the relationship.
The Festival has a new base with excellent facilities, while the Foxlowe gains a packed programme of arts and cultural events – with capacity audiences as keen on spending their hard-earned cash on real ale at the bar as they are on the music they have come to hear!
This years Festival – the 37th since it began way back in 1977 – again offers a programme of more than 40 events, with tickets for those organised directly by the Festival committee available through our new all-singing, all-dancing website: www.leekartsfestival.org
The town of Leek has been through some tough times in the past 12 months what with roadworks, a disappearing roundabout and the general air of economic depression.
But all the signs are that things are beginning to improve and we hope you will take this opportunity to support and enjoy the rich and varied feast of culture on offer at the 2013 Leek Arts Festival.
