Song of Songs is a beautiful piece of poetry about 2,400 years old and originally written in Aramaic.
It is a book of the Old Testament unlike any other book in the Bible, where two lovers yearn for each other and praise each other’s beauty. The woman’s friends, called ‘Daughters of Jerusalem’ also take part.
It will be read by Anni Hollings and Geoff Channon. A wide range of instruments will be used to support the text including small percussion, cowbells, strings, clarinet, flute and recorders. The musicians will be Mel, Elspeth and Claudia Lewis (who will double as the Daughters of Jerusalem), and Sandra and Diccon Pearce.
The performance time will be about 1 hour.
