A rising star of the world of stand-up comedy will launch next year’s Leek Arts Festival.
Top flight comedian Tom Allen – who has made regular appearances on shows including Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Live at the Apollo, The Great British Bake Off’s Extra Slice and The John Bishop Show – will kick-off the 2018 Festival when he appears at Leek’s Foxlowe Arts Centre next year.
The sharply-dressed, well-spoken, disparagingly camp son of working class south London – who recently appeared in the Royal variety performance – will bring his one man show, ‘Absolutely’ to the Staffordshire Moorlands town on April 25.
Leek Arts Festival spokesman Phil Edmeades said: “Tom Allen supported Sarah Millican on her 2017 world tour and has enjoyed sell-out success with his own shows in London and Edinburgh. This is a chance for North Staffordshire audiences to see him live on their own doorstep.”
Tickets for Tom Allen’s Leek show on April 25 are now available – price £14 – from The Foxlowe or online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/leekartsfestival.
The show is not suitable for young children and there is a minimum entry age of 14.

Full details of the 2018 Leek Arts Festival programme will be released shortly with organisers promising a feast of top-flight entertainment.
Phil added: “A lot of the planning work has already been completed and we are now in the process of finalising contracts with some big name artists.
“There will, of course, also be plenty of local artists and organisations involved in the festival and we need information from anyone planning an event by the first week in March 2018 at the latest.”
