Three Lancaster Poets: Mike Barlow, Carole Coates and Ron Scowcroft read from their latest work. Foxlowe Arts Centre 7:30pm £5 on the door.
Mike Barlow was winner of the National Poetry Competition 2006 with his poem ‘The Third Wife’. Prior to this he won the Ledbury Competition 2005 and the Amnesty International Competition 2002. In 2008 he was a finalist for the Manchester Prize with a folio of 5 poems. In 2011 he also won third prize in the Strokestown International Competition and third prize in the Larkin/East Yorkshire Competition.
Ron’s first pamphlet Moon Garden was published by Wayleave Press in 2013. Many of his poems have appeared in magazines and prizewinners’ anthologies. He has been longlisted twice for the National Poetry Prize and placed in several major competitions including The City of Derby, Magma and The Yorkshire Open. Ron won joint first in The McLellan in 2013 and is a co-founder of Lancaster’s April Poets.
Carole Coates has published extensively in the literary press, with four full collections published by Shoestring Press.
