MOJO AWARD-WINNER RUMER TOPS THE BILL AT ARTS FESTIVAL

MOJO AWARD-WINNER RUMER TOPS THE BILL AT ARTS FESTIVAL

Yes, the rumours are true! MOJO award-winner and double BRIT nominated star Rumer will be headlining the 2023 Leek Arts Festival!

Since her first album ‘Seasons Of My Soul’ landed in the Top 3 of the UK Albums Charts in 2010, achieved Platinum sales status and garnered her a MOJO Award for Best Breakthrough Act as well as two BRIT Award nominations, British singer-songwriter Rumer has gone on to forge an acclaimed career.

She’s a highly-regarded songwriter, penning global hits such as ‘Slow’ and ‘Aretha,’ and also a peerless interpreter of the work of others, as evidenced on her follow-up album ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ – an album of classic covers from the 1970s – plus ‘Rumer Sings Bacharach at Christmas’ and ‘This Girl’s in Love: A Bacharach and David Songbook’.

Leek Arts Festival chairman Phil Edmeades said securing Rumer as the headline act for the 2023 LAF programme was a major coup for the volunteers who run the six-week event in April and May each year.

He said: ‘We’ve been in talks with Rumer and her agent for several months, negotiating the right deal to bring her to Leek.

‘It’s a bit of a financial gamble for us, but when the opportunity to book her came along we swallowed hard and decided to go for it.

Rumer will be on stage at Leek’s Foxlowe Arts Centre on Friday, May 12 next year and tickets, priced £25, are available through online booking platform TicketSource here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/leek/the-foxlowe-arts-centre/rumer/e-rkzbpa.

Physical tickets will also be available from The Foxlowe before Christmas.

Other events already confirmed for Leek Arts Festival 2023 include ‘An Evening With Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth I’ on May 10; ‘The Power Of Poetry’ featuring local poets on May 18; the ‘Jake Leg Jug Band’ on May 20; ‘Birmingham Conservatoire Folk Ensemble’ on May 24 and a free afternoon of classical music featuring the Rondino Strings on a date yet to be fixed.
